What Have We Got Here?

I made my annual Christmas CD to give to people so I can avoid doing cards or presents. I thought I might put the track listings here, and why I picked each song. This is probably of no use to anyone, so I wont be offended if you skip it.

1. Superman - Lazlo Bane.
This track is the music at the start of Scrubs. I've got into Scrubs big time this year and this tune is book and does a good job of summing up a lot of life.

2. Metarie - Brendan Benson.
Can't actually remember how I found this guy, But his music is very nice and chilled and his lyrics often take back to places in my past.

3. I Don't Care What You Call Me - David Ford.
David Ford is amazing. Found him by accident through iTunes. Didn't realise he was the ex-lead singer of Easyworld until later. His whole album is amazing, but this track is my favourite and probably my tune of the year. It is so powerful and emotive. Again it takes me back in time in my head. Book.

4. Goodbye My Lover - James Blunt.
I bought James Blunt's album quite a while back, played it far too much and got sick of it. I left it alone for a while and when I can back to it this song stuck out. Another powerful one.

5. Just Friends - Gavin DeGraw.
He's another one that I can't quite remember how I found. His album is cool, a mix of quiet and loud songs. This song is cool. n'shit.

6. My Curse - The Afghan Whigs.
I bought this album way back in the day on tape and loved it, especially this song. Being loathed to buy something I already had, it wasn't until very recently that I finally purchased the CD. I picked this song because it reminds me of being 14 and everything that meant.

7. I Want Everything - Cracker.
This is another album that I bought years ago and only recently got on CD. I had forgotten how good it is and had to put a song on my CD. This is my favourite.

8. Further – Longview
I think I was introduced to this band by my friend 'The Jew' This is a cool song, nice and rocking. Again - n'shit.

9. Tumble And Fall - Feeder.
I bought this album earlier in the year and was immediately attracted to this song. Its a song that's great to sing along to.

10. Late - Ben Folds.
This man is a living legend. I went to see him play this year and he rocked. This song is about Elliott Smith and its beautiful, full of excellent imagery.

11. Lack Of Colour - Death Cab For Cutie.
I discovered this band, rather embarrassingly after reading Phil Collins' Playlist on iTunes. They are a band with cool songs and a very cool sounds.

12. Junkies And Whores - Easyworld.
My good friend 'Floop' introduced my to this band last year sometime. They are alas no more, but the couple of albums they did release are excellent. They were a very underrated band who should have been massive.

13. I Will Survive - Cake.
This is a song I first heard at University. I've been looking for it for ages and managed to track it down recently. Its a little weird and takes a bit of getting used to, but it reminds me of being drunk and happy in Winchester so hey, nevermind.

14. I Melt With You - Nouvelle Vague.
This song is the one the mobile phone advert where the girl knows what's going to happen. I like it, its chilled and funky. N'shit.

15. Chasing Rainbows - Shed Seven.
Another old song that I got this year. Fantastic memories surround it so that's why its here.

16. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys.
Its the Beach Boys. What else do I need to say. Its my favourite of their tracks at the moment.

17. Cool In A Crisis - The Pooh Sticks.
This is yet again another old song I've recently got on CD. Its a fantastic bit of pop, and reminds me of a girl I never knew but always wanted to.

18. Accidentally In Love - Counting Crows.
Always got to have a Counting Crows song on any CD. Due to lack of a new album, I picked this one from the Shrek 2 soundtrack.

19. They - Jem.
This song is excellent. I love to play it really loud with the base up and let it bounce round my house knocking stuff of the shelves.

Well there you go. Whether or not you enjoyed reading that, hopefully you will enjoy listening to the CD.

Lates.

Matt.
